The Wonderful World of Mirrorless Photography

Sony_A3000KAfter a couple of years using only my cell phone camera, I could stand it no longer and I purchased a Sony Alpha 3000 mirrorless digital camera. This is the entry level camera in Sony’s current lineup of Alpha cameras.

I bought this camera at Best Buy after Christmas and was able to get a pretty good deal on an open box item. Everything was in the box so after I charged the battery, I was ready to  go.

Well, not quite. The pop up flash is pretty anemic, so I bought a Sony hotshoe flash to add light to the scenes of which I was making photographs. It doesn’t come with batteries, so batteries as well.

Okay, I’m anal retentive when it comes to lenses, so I put a Hoya anti-static UV filter on the kit lens. So far, I haven’t seen a speck of dust on the filter, which bodes well for the lens itself.

I replaced the included carry strap with a BlackRapid Sport strap from my last DSLR.

I bought a wired shutter release, and a Manfrotto travel tripod.

SD cards go in a Pelican SD card holder.

Then I put it all in my old Think Tank TakeOff rolling camera backpack.

Now, I’m ready to go!
